Every once in a while we come across a very unusual property which does offer great potential. This is a great example. This disused chapel is set on the edge of a little hamlet a few kilometres outside the pretty market town of Baignes in the southern Charente. The countryside around here is quite stunning, with rolling hills interspersed with areas of woodland. The little town of Baignes can be reached in a few minutes and is a convenient place to stock up on provisions at the weekly market. The town also has a superb little restaurant offering some regional specialities at incredible value.The building itself has been abandoned for some time but it does sit in a nice plot of around 700m². The roof does need some urgent attention in one area. Internally there is just one large room but we think that there is enough space to install a first floor and create a two bedroom home. It is the sort of project that is going to need someone with vision but we think that it offers the potential to create a comfortable character home.This is an unusual project that is going to require a fair amount of time and investment. However, there is always the pretty town of Baignes and its superb restaurant to use as a base while you wait for your plans to be drawn up and the necessary planning approval to be granted |
